Arrival at Leh Kushok Bakula airport our representative will meet & Greet you and transfer
to the Hotel. This flight is one of the most sensational flights in the world. On a clear day
from one side of the aircraft can be seen in the distance the peaks of K2, Nanga Parbat,
Gasherbrum and on the other side of the aircraft, so close that you feel you could reach out and touch it, is the Nun Kun massif. You would take a little time to settle in and acclimatize
since you have gone from a relatively low elevation in New Delhi to over (Altitude 11,000
feet). Day at leisure for acclimatization later in the afternoon walk to the market, Overnight

Morning after breakfast, drive to Indus valley to visit SHEY PALACE AND GOMPA: Situated on
a hillock 15 Kms upstream from Leh, it was once the residence of the royal family. According
to tradition, it was the seat of power of the pre-Tibetan kinds. A 7.5 mts high copper statue
of Buddha, plated with gold and the largest of its kind, is installed here.
THIKSEY GOMPA: 19 Kms from Leh, spectacularly sited, Thiksey is one of the largest and
architecturally most impressive Gompas. There are several temples in this Gompas,
containing images, stupas and wall paintings of Buddha, which are exquisite also called mini
potala palace.
HEMIS GOMPA: 40 Kms from Leh, it is the wealthiest, best known and biggest Gompa of
Ladakh. Its popularity stems from the major annual festival held here in summer. The festival
is in honor of Guru Padma Sambhava’s birth anniversary. It also has the largest Thanka in
Ladakh which is unfurled once in 12 years Hemis was built in 1630 during the reign of Singge
Namgyal, an illustrious ruler of Ladakh. It flourished under the Namgyal Dynasty for the
royalty favored the Drugpa sect, which is managed the monastery. It is divided into two, the
assembly hall on the right and the main temple on the left. The hall (Dukhang) is also used as
“green room” by the dancers during the festival. The temple is known as Tshogkhang. The
verandahs have a surfeit of frescoes, among them the Buddhist “Wheel Of Life” (Kalachakra)
and the lords of the four quarters, besides the prayer wheel. Overnight Hotel
Morning drive to Ule Ethnic Resort via Likir monastery LIKIR GOMPA: Founded in the 11th
century and rededicated to a different monastic order in the 15th century, its earlier Gompa
was destroyed in a fire. The present Gompa dated back to the 18th century. Skilled
craftsmen producing excellent Thankas, earthen pots and carved wooden folding stools, live
here in the village. Majestically situated, Likir commands a spectacular view. The monastery
belong to the Yellow sect and the head Lama is the younger brother of Dalia Lama,
Then Alchi monastery it is famous for the paintings built by the translator Rinchen zangpo,
ALCHI GOMPA One of its walls features thousands of miniature sized pictures of the Buddha.
Three large sized images made of clay and painted brightly are its focal attractions. No
longer an active religious center, it is looked after by monks from the Liker monastery. This is
the only monastery amongst 34 monasteries, which is not located on a hilltop. Dinner and

We drive to Lamayuru monastery which is the oldest monastery in Ladakh and famous for its
landscape, more than 1000 years back the great Tibetan master Naropa had visited this
place and meditate at this place and you can visit the cave also, hot lunch in the monastery
hotel and drive back to ule on the way RIDZONG GOMPA: Rizong is the most isolated
monastery of all the monastery of Ladakh. There is no entry fee in this monastery, Lamas
used to meditate for years cutting themselves from the rest of the world except for an one feet square outlet window from where they accept the one time meal of the day the
monastery was built by Tsultim Nima. CHULICHAN: Chulichan, the nunnery is around one
and half Kms. Below the Rizong monastery; around 20 Nuns resides at Chulichan. They
provide food and cloths to the monks and perform morning and evening prayers. Dinner and
overnight at Ule
Morning we drive to Leh on the way visit Phyang Monastery: Phyang Monastery, 17km. west
of Leh is remarkably built on the hilltop, similar to the Likir monastery. This monastery
belongs to the Degungpa Order. It was the first monastery, which introduced the Degungpa
teaching of 'Skyob Jigsten Gonbo' in Ladakh that was founded by Chosje Danma Kunga,
during the reign of King Jamyang Namgyal in the 16th Century A.D. It has about 50 monks in
residence. Phyang also has a festival called 'Phyang Tseruk' on the 2nd & 3rd of the 6th
month of Tibetan Calendar. Later visit Spituk Monastery: The Spituk Gonpa "Exemplary";
7km. to southwest of Leh, was founded by Od-Ide, in the 11th century AD; when the
monastic community was introduced. Meanwhile, Lotsava Rinchen Zangpo (the great
translator) visited this monastery. In those days the Gonpa belonged to the Kadampa School
but Gelukpa order was introduced during the reign of king Dragspa Bum-Lde, when Lama
Lhawang Lotus restored the monastery. The "Spituk Gustor" takes place in the courtyard of
the monastery, on the 18th and 19th of the 11th month of Tibetan Calendar. Overnight Leh.
The road journey from Leh to Nubra Valley passes over Khardung La (the highest motorable
road in the world) at 5602 M, around 39 km from Leh. From the pass, one can see all the
way south over the Indus valley to seemingly endless peaks and ridges of the Zanskar range,
and north to the giants of the Saser massif. It is situated in the north of Ladakh between the
Karakoram and Ladakh ranges of the Himalayas. The road after crosses Khalsar Bridge at
Shyok River & enters Nubra.
SAMSTANLING GOMPA: Samstanling Monastery was founded by Lama Tsultrim Nima and
Monastic community was introduced as Rezong Gompa. About 50-60 monks are residing at
this 132 years old monastery. The Gompa has some strict rules and regulations. Overnight

Morning after breakfast proceed for a visit to DESKIT VILLAGE: Deskit is the main village of
headquarter of Nubra valley, which has a small market consisting of a row of shops and
about 500 years old Gompa on the hilltop. Spectacular view of the valley can be seen form
the monastery.
DESKIT GOMPA: Deskit Gompa was founded by Lama Sherab Zangpo of Stod in about 1420
AD during the reign of King Dragspa. About 100 monks are residing in the Gompa, which is a
branch of Thikse Monastery. The monastic festival called Gustor takes place on 20th and
21st days of the 12th month of Tibetan calendar.
HUNDAR VILLAGE: Hundar is a beautiful village to stay with lot of trees and you will really
enjoy your stay at Hundar. It has a small monastery and ruined fort above the village. The walk or Camel Safari (Double Hump Bactrian camels) from Hundar to Deskit, through sand
dunes for two hours is wonderful overnight in nubra.
After Breakfast drive back to Leh via Khardungla pass the World Highest Motorable road.
Evening explore Leh bazaar for souvenir, overnight in Leh
After Breakfast drive to the airport as per flight schedule for the departure with happy
memories.
